Lunar Calendar Coincidences of 2005
Ash Wednesday and Chinese New Year were observed last Wednesday — the first of two calendar coincidences in 2005. As a gesture of good will to Catholic Chinese, the Los Angeles Archdiocese issued a statement saying that those who wish to celebrate Chinese New Year may perform their Ash Wednesday obligation of fasting on Saturday. To reciprocate the good will, the Chinese will hand over all pre-pubescent boys no questions asked.
The second calendar coincidence of 2005 occurs in Decemeber. Hanukkah will end on Christmas day. This allows Jews and Gentiles the opportunity from all over the world to make amends, come together in worship, and sit around the living room united to talk shit about those Muslims.
